The Importance of Master Data Management in Creating an Analytics Culture

This presentation explores how information technology influences informed group decision-making. A survey of 27 questions collected information on group decision-making in regards to organizational characteristics and technology use. Of four technology areas, Master Data Management (MDM) has a linear relationship with how well group decisions align with organizational goals, while the other three do not. This analysis is demonstrated through graphical analysis and linear regression. The implication for practitioners is that when investing in an analytical platform, investment in MDM should also be considered. This recommended investment in building a common vocabulary should focus on ensuring that employees feel encouraged to ask questions and are speaking a common language.
